  8. Alfred Nobel

Alfred Nobel was the third son of Immanuel Nobel. He was born on the 21st of October 1833. He went with his family to Saint Petersburg in 1842, where his father (who had invented modern plywood) had started a “tropedo’ works.

Alfred studied chemistry with professor Nikolay Nikolaevish Zinin. When he was 18, he went to the United states to study chemistry for four years and worked for a short peiod under John Ericsson. In 1859, the factory was left to the care of the second son Ludvig Nobel(1831-1888), who greatly improved the business.

Alfred returned to Sweden with his father after the bankruptcy of their family business, and devoted himself to the study of explosives, especially to the safe manufacture and use of nitroglycerine, which was discovered in 1847 by Ascanio Sobrero, one of his students under Theophile-Jules Pelouze at the university of Torino. However, a big explosion occurred on the 3rd of September 1864 at their factory in Helenborg in Stockholm , killing five people among them Alfred’s younger brother.

Every year since 1901, the Nobel prize has been awarded for achievement in physics, chemistry, physiology or medicine, literature and for peace. The Nobel prize is an international award administered by the Nobel foundation in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1986, Sveriges Riksbank established the Sveriges Riksbank prize in economic sciences in memory of Alfred Nobel, founder of the Nobel prize. Each consists of a medal, personal diploma, and a cash award approximately $1,400,000.

  11. What I am writing about is a person who revolutionised science. His name is Isaac Newton. He was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist and theologian. Actually even though he lived in the 1600s, a lot of theories that he invented have been used in many fields and they have led to a number of formulae being developed by future generations of scientists.

He was born in 1643 at Woolsthorpe Manor in England. He was born a few months after the death of his father. Because of being born prematurely, during his childhood, Newton was a small boy. Occasionally, his mother said that he could fit inside a quart mug. When he was 12, he entered the King’s School. At one time, Newton disappeared then he was found at his mother’s farm. The reason why he had left was that his mother wanted him to be a farmer. However, fortunately, a principal of the school persuaded his mother to let Newton finish his study. Finally, he entered Trinity College, Cambridge as a sizar – a sort of work-study role.

After graduating from the school, where he was apparently outstanding in many fields significantly such as mechanics, optics and mathematic, he became most well known for his discovery of gravity. This was when he was sitting under an apple tree and an apple fell on his head. At that time most believed that it had happened because of God. However he thought of the decisive reason why it had dropped. Eventually, he discovered theory of the gravity that can explain a lot of natural phenomenon. In addition, out of the enormous things he had done if you have to choose one, it might be the discovery that light can be separated into several sections and is composed of particles.

As he got older, he often wrote a few books related to the Bible. This fact proves that not only was he a logical thinker, but also had a literary mind. Furthermore, he was involved in the Parliament of England which indicates influence.

Overall, according to the above, he is obviously the greatest scientist in human history and he sometimes has been described as a gift from God. After he died, he left a priceless spirit for human beings and he has inspired many scientists.
